Community Service

"Service for Humanity”, is Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.'s motto and the Sorority theme is "Committed and Empowered to Provide Community Service in a Global Society". Theta Chi Chapter's Community Service Committee follows the Motto and Theme by conducting, presenting and participating in various outreach programs. The sorority’s programs and partnerships are : The March of Dimes, Hypertension & Cancer screening and education; HeartTruth, Power to end strokes (American Heart Association); National Kidney Disease Education Project, Leadership Development, Research Development, Program for the elderly, Programs for Youth & Young Adults, Community Health Outreach, and Childhood Obesity.

Blood Pressure Screenings

Theta Chi Chapter offers free blood pressure screening and hypertension education on the first Saturday of the month at Theta Chi Headquarter from 10am-12pm.

Teen Network

Teen Network is a compilation of the various youth activities conducted by the chapter. The Nursing Club at Renaissance Middle School was conceived by the past chapter president Shirley Hunter as a recruitment and mentoring program for nursing and other healthcare professions with permission from principal Harriet Diaz. This program was named after the late Doris McCartney, RN. Teen Network aims to take advantage of this time of inquiry to expose students to opportunities in the healthcare field. Health-related activities have included tours to health-related facilities for career presentations; visits to acute care, long-term care, and rehabilitation facilities; visits to a medical robotics lab; annual Christmas visits to the Veterans Administration Day Hospital for Christmas Carols, and interaction with the veterans where students donated small gifts. Classes on CPR instruction and Emergency Preparedness have been conducted.

American Heart Association CPR Classes

Theta Chi chapter offers CPR classes to lay persona and professionals. There are five certified AHA instructors who offer Family and friends CPR, Heart Saver CPR with First Aid, BLS certification and BLS Recertification. Most Classes occur at Theta Chi Chapter Headquarters but we are also mobile. Please contact us to inquire about our next scheduled class and our mobile service.
